A Bunch Of Hot Air
January 15, 2008
So if you haven’t seen the keynote from Macworld 2008 yet, don’t worry, only the most Hardcore nerds and Reporters tend to trudge out to Moscone Center on day 1 of Macworld to hear the gospel according to Steve Jobs. Anyways, I wasn’t there, class and not having a pass to get into the hall has kept me at bay, which is probably best, like most Keynotes, this one was a lot of hot air. The much anticipated Sub Notebook, the Mac Book Air. So I know that I may be the only one who doesn’t think this is the most revolutionary thing in the world, but it’s a Subnotebook with a Mac Book Pro Price tag, I mean come on, $1800, really?! That’s complete bullshit. Sure there are some nice new features in it that certainly will be implemented in later Mac Book and Mac Book Pro lines, like the back lit keyboard, the multi touch track pad, and the smaller hard drive + no DVD drive… I mean. And that’s what really kills me, apple has put a decent processor, ram, and chose to slap in a tiny hard drive and exclude the dvd player, which ironically enough this model would have been PERFECT for a Blu Ray DVDÂ Player, especially since they didn’t include them in the Mac Pro upgrade. Also another thing to point out is the fact that we haven’t seen a memory upgrade for the Ipod touch or the Iphone which quite frankly I would have been more excited about than the Mac Book Air. In fact I’d rather have seen a touchscreen Mac.

I whole heartily agree. The price gets me,..and Blu Ray would have been the only thing selling it for me…you bring up good points.
